KINDERGARTEN / healthy gardens

 

Kindergarten students studied in their classrooms and Science Lab about the need for Healthy Gardens to maintain a healthy community.

In the Art room, students observed images and discussed what a healthy garden should look like.  They then discussed what would happen to plants if the Earth got too hot. Students then created two pieces using crayon techniques, and one using a melted crayon technique to add texture while composing scenes of  healthy Gardens with pollinators.

1st grade

 

Our 1st Grade students studied in the Science lab and their classrooms about plants and how they grow.  In the Art Room, they observed, discussed and discovered the effects of Climate Change on plant ecosystems. They then thought of ways to increase the survival of plants and decided planting seeds in planters and then transplanting them into greenhouses or ecosystems once more mature, would be a possible solution.  They then designed and created mini planters.

2nd grade

 

2nd Grade studied Pollination and the problem of their survival in Science lessons. In the Art Room, they viewed and discussed images of the devastating effects of Climate Change and negative human intervention on pollinators. Students then created their interpretations of a pollinator garden employing a mixed media painting technique combined with a low relief sculpture technique.

3rd grade

 

3rd Grade is learning about improving their environments by conserving resources in Science and their classrooms.

In the Art Room, they researched how Climate Change has affected air pollution. They are now in the process of using their group findings to produce art work that reflects their discoveries.

4th grade

 

4th Grade has studied Weather, water volume and quality and how the environment is affected.

In the Art Room, they researched how Climate Change is impacting on global weather and the volume and quality of water. They are now in the process of producing artwork that shows their group research findings.

5th grade

 

5th Grade has studied how flooding affects ecosystems and how to prevent it.

In the Art Room, they researched how Climate Change is impacting on Ocean Rise in the USA Coastal areas. They created artistic presentations and are now working on creating art work that reflects their group findings.
