First Grade- Students in first grade explored the World Wildlife Foundation website, and discussed why certain species are becoming endangered due to climate change. After learning that there are species at risk around the world, students watched a short video on the adelie penguin explaining exactly why climate change is affecting this animal. Students then had the opportunity to create their own adelie penguin with oil pastel and tempera paint on paper. Artwork sizes are 9x12. Students participating:

An’gel Wright, A’Riyah Taylor, De’Rykah Badie, Jhunelle Letbetter, Kemon’Dre Sturgis, Kennedy Edwards, Niyana Hunter, Shaleya Singleton, and Skyler Walker.

Third Grade- Students in third grade explored the World Wildlife Foundation website, and discussed why certain species are becoming endangered due to climate change. Students went through each animal on their website, and discussed why each particular species is affected by climate change. These animals included the South American sea turtles, Chinese panda bears, African elephants and American right whales. Third graders were able to choose which animal they wanted to portray in their artwork. Students studied silhouettes and pointillism, and created a pointillism animal using oil pastels and tempera paint on construction paper. Artwork sizes are 18x24. Students participating:
